The University of

The University of South Dakota offers the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing.
The degree consists of 65 credits that include theory, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. Clinical experiences are in urban and rural hospitals, community-based agencies and clinics.
The nursing program is offered on the main campus in Vermillion and four outreach campuses in Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Watertown. A Distance Program is offered to employees through a partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society (GSS).
The nursing curriculum offers several options:
The classroom setting blended with Internet at all campuses.
The Internet option at Rapid City and Sioux Falls.
The LPN to RN Upward Mobility program at all campuses.
The LPN to RN (1+1 option) at the Watertown campus only.
The Distance Internet –based program in partnership with GSS.
The graduate is eligible to take the National Council of Licensing Examination (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a registered nurse (RN) after completion of graduation requirements.
The University of South Dakota Nursing is designated as a National League of Nursing Center of Excellence for Creating Environments that Enhance Student Learning and Professional Development. Schools of nursing that distinguish themselves by outstanding achievement in the promotion of excellence in nursing education are publicly acknowledged. USD has attained the NLN Center of Excellence status for 2004-2007, 2007-2010.
